St Albans Church VicarageQuery from Mari Ryan
I live locally and am interested in the history of the vicarage which is now number 10 Buller Road.
Does anyone have any information or photographs of it? I would be interested to hear.

I have now had a chance to speak to someone who used to attend St Alban’s Church in Coombe Road.
He has provided the following information.
“The Vicarage for St Alban’s Church was at 10 Natal Road on the corner with Buller Road.
It is quite a large house but has no garden to speak of. I have been inside on a few occasions but cannot remember much about it.
The last priest to live there was Fr. George Butterworth and his wife Julie and their two children. They moved to St. Nicholas in Saltdean in 2002. After they left, the building was rented out by the Diocese for a number of years. I believe that it was eventually sold”.
On looking at building records at the Keep at Falmer they have the original building plans for St Alban’s vicarage on the corner of Natal Road and Buller Road.
Plan of 10 Natal Road, marked as St Albans Vicarage.
I can find no evidence that number 10 Buller Road was used as a vicarage.
Mari
That is really interesting and helpful.
Thank you very much for your assistance.
